Initial concept drawings

The theme of my idea is anti signs, i thought about doing toilet signs with a twist, usually mens toilets are labelled men and the womens toilets are labelled women, but i had an idea to do the normal men and women toilet signs with an anti sign over it.   For example the mens toilet having a sign of a women crossed out and having men written above the sign, with a small lettering beneath saying no women allowed,  I really like this idea as it is simple yet affective and is also original and hasnt been done before.

Here is a example of my initial designs after trialing the typical thickness of an anti sign and also the typical men and women symbols, i decided to take on a more symplistic feel,  re designing the traditional symbols of toilet signs, i also prefer the thin lines rather than the thick lines, i feel it looks slick and more sophisticated.

I also looked into incourporating this idea throughout the school and switching signs around, for example, having a keyboard sign crossed out and instead of it being a compter suite it being something completely different.  But im not sure if this would work well througout the whole building as people would get confused on where to go, and visiters especially would get lost.

Here are further trials on my idea of anti signs, the sign on the left i created in photoshop, although as its digitally done , and it looks more professional than the other trials, i prefer how the hand drawn trials look.   I also found photoshop very challenging to use, and im not too pleased with how this initial tral turned out.

New school logo design ideas

This is my idea for the new possible logo for the new building being built, through experimenting with power paints i quite liked the splattered paint idea, and feel it encouporated art in a non sterotypical way, for example having a paintbrush or palet in place of the splatter.  Also because the building isnt just an art building i felt the other strands would encourporate well into this design.

Here are examples of possible colours schemes/ logo colors that could be represented in the new building.  I trialed quite pale light colours, as i would associate these colours to create a  calm, relaxed mood/ enviroment.

The 02 Arena

The architects responsible for designing the largest fabric structure in thw world is Richard Rogers, renowned for his funstionalist and modern design.  The exterior of the dome shaped structure of the building appears as a huge white marquee with twelve 100m high towers, and scalloped edges.  Each of the support poles representing either the twelve months of the year, or the twelve hours on the clock's face, exposing Greenwich as the keeper of time (GMT).  From above, the building appears to look circular it being 365 metres in diameter each metre representing each day of the year.  Each of thesefeatures making it one of the most recognisable landmarks in London.

Buro Happold the structural engineered the entirety of the roof structure it weighing lessthan the air contained within it , made from the glass fibre fabric, a durable and weather resistant plastic.  The use of colours white and yellow really stands out among te dull surroundings.  At the same time not overpowering the vicinity.

ARCHITECTURAL SPACES

The architects involved in creating the modern and contemporary design of the pompidou centre in paris, were Renzo Piano, Richard Hodgers and Su Rodgers, Gianfranco Franchini nd structural engineers Edmond Happold and Peter Rice, awarded to this team through winning an architectural design competition.  This is an example of the expressive style of high-tech architecture, the bright coloured parts, including pipes, ducts escalators nd the steel supporting frame.  Things which normally be hidden from view, are exposed along the outside of the building, and are emphasized in vivid primary colours.  This has a huge impact on the overall visual apperance of the building, not only does it stand out by contrasting with the surrounding houses, but it also makes the building easier to locate, due to the colours and intersting shapes.  Along with the glass and steel finish, creating  sophisticated, modern and urban feel.

Brand Identity

Nike is a very reputable brand, not only due to the quality of the merchandise and diverse range of products, but also because of the well known logo, and innovative designs.  The products Nike sell range from trainers to tracksuits to bags and  hats.  Each branded with the nike logo, whether discrete or distinct.  The logo is merely a flick of colour usually white or black, more recently differing, although the logo is very simple, it is slick and current.

Due to the popularity of the brand advertisment is limited.  The clientel of the brand is wide ranging in age.  Appealing to most people.  The brand is signified as unique down to use of graphic design.
The vivid brand identity of Macdonalds, along with their promotional adverts, and logos, impact on the overall identity of the brand and how it comes across to the public.  The iconic colours of yellow, red and black are bold and eye catching.  Yellow being a warm and high visability colour, red also being a strong eye catching colour.  And black being a sophistiacated colour bringing out the other colours.  As Macdonalds has advanced, its target audience has changed from a younger audience to a more mature audience, due to their change in identification for example their logo changing from being quite animated to more sophisticated, also the way in which the decor of the interior of the stores have changed, into being more refined than initially.  The way in which the advertisments have been presented have also changed having previously been more aimed at children in the way in which they advertised the toy collection in the happy meal, compared to now, the adverts being more family based.  Therefore Macdonalds now being aimed at a wider audience, being as iconic as ever.

Brand Identity

Coca Cola has a strong visual brand identitiy not only due to the use of their well known logo, and their striking colour themes, but also because of their ever changing advertisments and designs.  Although the logo  is merely the words Coca Cola written in white, the way in which the words are presented, and the use of specific font, not only simplisticly  puts across the brand, but also appeals to all audiences.

Due to the brand appealing to all audiences, the logos is well know to most people of all age cateogries, across the world.  The usual colour theme of red is not only a strong colour but it is also an attention grabbing colour which stands out, and a power colour for example the red carpet for celebrities, used for VIP's.

The brand also never fail to make iconic adverts especially around the time of christmas where the adverts are renowned for the conent and family orientation. which has continued through the years.
